The Syndicat Mixte of Béziers Cap d'Agde Airport
The airport has been managed since April 2009 by a Syndicat Mixte (public/private partnership) called “Pôle aéroportuaire Béziers Cap d’Agde en Languedoc” which unites the traditional partners in the airport platform: the Communautés d’agglomération (Urban area communities) of Béziers-Méditerranée and Hérault-Méditerranée, the Communauté de communes (Community of communes) of La Domitienne and the Saint Pons Chamber of Commerce, who have managed it for more than 35 years. Although the Conseil Général (Departmental Council) of the Hérault has not yet joined the airport’s Syndicat Mixte, it is a loyal and indispensable partner of the airport platform and has participated in many investments for several years now.
Apart from the growth in “passenger” traffic and thanks to considerable reserves of land which it possesses on the airport platform, the Syndicat Mixte will apply itself to diversifying the airport activity by welcoming new businesses, coming from the aviation sector or interested by being near transport infrastructure, which is synonymous with accessibility and economic exchange.

With the creation of the Syndicat Mixte, the Béziers Cap d’Agde airport in the Languedoc now has increased means to finance its development plan, which is already well under way. This aims at an objective of 230,000 passengers between now and 2012 and economic returns in the order of 100 million euros a year for the professionals, thanks to an activity which is mainly focused on the “incoming” low-cost lines.
